Dental Veneers.
A veneer is a thin layer of porcelain or composite material placed over the outside of a tooth. Veneers address aesthetics or minor tooth damage, and are typically applied to the visible front teeth to correct discoloration, uneven shape, or minor misalignment.
The advantage of veneers over crowns is that much less of the natural tooth has to be removed, which generally makes the procedure more comfortable. Veneers aren't recommended for every case — patients with large existing fillings or minimal remaining tooth structure are often better served by a crown instead.
How it's done
Veneers can be placed directly, with composite resin bonded and shaped in a single visit, or indirectly, with a porcelain veneer fabricated to fit your tooth exactly.
The indirect method takes two appointments: the first to prepare the tooth and fit a temporary veneer, and the second to bond the permanent veneer in place once it comes back from fabrication, typically two to three weeks later.
