Prosthodontics

Crowns & Bridges.

Designed digitally and crafted in our in-house lab by a board-certified prosthodontist. CAD/CAM design, prosthodontic-level fit, no goopy impressions or lab guesswork.

Crowns

A cap that protects the whole tooth.

A crown, or cap, covers a damaged tooth entirely. It's a restoration that has to fit your bite, protect what's left of the tooth underneath, and look like it was always there — not just strengthen the tooth, but restore its shape, alignment, and appearance.

Crowns are used to replace a large filling when there isn't enough natural tooth structure left, protect a weak tooth from fracturing, restore a tooth that's already fractured, anchor a bridge, cover a dental implant, or cover a tooth that's discolored, poorly shaped, or has had root canal treatment.

What to expect

A crown case begins with a consultation, where Dr. Cross assesses the tooth and confirms a crown is the right restoration. The tooth is then shaped to make room for the crown, and a digital scan or impression captures the exact fit needed to design it.

A temporary crown protects the prepared tooth while your permanent crown is designed and milled. Once it's ready, it's checked against your bite and cemented into place. Crowns can also be paired with veneers for a broader smile makeover — the right mix depends on how much of the natural tooth needs to be addressed.

Bridges

Filling the gap, permanently.

A bridge is one or more artificial teeth cemented into place using the real teeth on either side for support — hence the name. It's an ideal way to fill the space left by a missing tooth, replacing it both functionally and cosmetically.

Bridgework is as much an art as it is an exact science. Bridge materials include gold alloys, porcelain bonded to metal alloy, or all-ceramic material made to match your natural tooth color. The choice of material depends on requirements for strength, wear, and esthetics.

What to expect

A dental bridge case begins with a consultation, where Dr. Cross assesses your dental health and discusses the most suitable bridge for your situation. For traditional bridges, the teeth adjacent to the gap are prepared by reshaping them to fit the crowns, and impressions or digital scans are taken to design your custom bridge.

While your permanent bridge is being made, a temporary bridge protects the exposed teeth and gums. Once your custom bridge is ready, it's carefully fitted before being permanently cemented or attached to implants.
