Fluoride Treatment.

Tooth decay starts with plaque — the acid-producing bacteria that collects on your teeth and gums every day. Brushing and flossing help keep it in check, but fluoride treatment adds another layer of protection, strengthening enamel and helping address decay while it's still early.

Fluoride treatment can be especially helpful if you have a history of cavities, exposed tooth roots, dry mouth, active orthodontic treatment, or existing dental restorations that make certain areas of your mouth harder to keep clean.

What to expect

A fluoride treatment is quick and simple — usually applied directly to your teeth as a gel, foam, or varnish during a routine visit. It's a painless addition to your regular cleaning and exam, not a separate procedure to schedule around.

If you're not sure whether fluoride treatment is right for you, we'll talk through it as part of your regular exam and recommend it only where it makes sense.
